A broken compass
So I was browsing the iTunes store when I saw this iPhone app. It's supposed to be a compass. Well, I think one only needs to have seen a shadow cast by the sun to understand that this is a broken compass. If one relies on this compass to find one's bearings, there is a really good chance that person will get lost. And by how much the person gets lost would depend on the time of day, the latitude, and the season. If you want to know how to find true north without a compass, try the methods explained in wikiHow in this link instead. Judging by the reviews in the iTunes store, many people do not know what a sundial is, or have not even observed the shadow cast by the sun.
To use a broken compass is to get lost. The value of a working compass indeed. To thine own self be true.
